Here’s a list of the participants and the programme, including photos, of the 2017 visit to Villedômer by a group from Stapleford.
And below is an account of the visit by the chair of our Association at the time:
A small group of Twinners was thoroughly spoilt during the May Bank Holiday weekend. We were welcomed at the well-appointed Villedômer Sports Pavilion where we enjoyed the customary apéritifs and were then whisked off to various dinner parties arranged by our hosts.
The following day was a day en famille during which a variety of places were visited including an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by local artists; the sun shone, and we were able to eat lunch outside.
That evening we were treated to dinner at an unusual location, namely an industrial area. The restaurant was superb and specialised in desserts – we were treated to no less than four which were delicious, but even the most sweet-toothed amongst us were almost beaten.
Sunday saw us visiting the Museum of Magic and the castle at Blois followed by a bring-and-share supper.
We returned home on Monday – already missing our friends – and looking forward to the return leg in May 2018 and Twinning’s fortieth anniversary the following year (events to be confirmed).
The Association would be delighted to welcome new members. For further information, please email us on: staplefordtwinningassociation@gmail.com
